Community Safety Update – Tockwith (Shed Break‑In)

We are making residents in the Tockwith area aware of a recent incident of shed break‑in and are offering some reassurance and crime prevention advice.

Between Saturday 16th May and Monday 18th May, unknown suspect(s) entered the rear garden of a property on COWTAIL LANE, TOCKWITH. While in the garden, the suspect(s) forced entry to a shed. Items inside the shed were searched through and several items were thrown out into the garden area.

Fortunately, no items have been identified as stolen.

What We’re Asking Residents To Do

We would ask residents to:

Ensure sheds, garages and outbuildings are locked and secure

Lock away tools, bicycles and other valuables, especially overnight

Consider using shed alarms, padlocks or security lighting

Be mindful of leaving items in gardens that could be attractive to offenders

Check gates and fences are secure, particularly when away from home or at work

If You See Something Suspicious

Please report:

Anyone acting suspiciously around gardens, sheds or vehicles

Unfamiliar persons looking over fences or trying shed doors

Vehicles driving slowly or repeatedly through residential areas late at night
